FAQ

In what lengths is TrimFlex supplied ? TrimFlex is supplied in 4.2 metre lengths as standard. Available (special order) in up to 6 metre lengths.
Can it be used to cure
an existing gap/crack ?
Not at present. TrimFlex has been designed to prevent the problem from occurring in new build situations.
Can TrimFlex be used for staircases with landings/ kite winders? No problem, provided the staircase manufacturer hasn’t rounded the top of the string too much, where the different sections of string meet. If that is the case,
it is worth specifying the top edge of the string to be kept straight, in future.
Can TrimFlex be used with curved strings? No. The top of the receiving string needs to be straight, both on plan and elevation.
What if the front of TrimFlex gets damaged? The detachable facia which forms the front face of TrimFlex is replaceable without having to disturb the main channels.
What other finishes are available for the facia? The basic set is supplied in white. Separate facias will shortly be available in wood-grain effects: Light and
dark hardwood, and metallic: chrome and Brass effects.
The images show a groove in the top of the string – what size does it have to be? Ideally, 2.5mm x 18mm. this can be cut in the workshop, by the staircase manufacturer, or on site. (Most portable circular saws use a blade about this thickness). The groove needs to be cut before the staircase is fixed, however.
I’d already cut the groove – and it’s a little over-size. Can I still use TrimFlex? Run a bead of PVA in the groove prior to finally inserting TrimFlex in the String. Secure with a few pins through the string and ribbed tongue, temporarily.
Won’t the plasterers damage the front face of TrimFlex
as they trowel on the finish coat?
Very unlikely – the front of the facia is protected by a
peel-off plastic film. (This should be left on until the
final cleaning stage, to protect whilst decorating).
